ORO IMPACT

ORO Impact’s goal is to eliminate down payment affordability as a barrier to home ownership.

MISSION

Our mission is to make down payment assistance  an employee benefit as common as health insurance and retirement plans,  allowing employees to create wealth through home ownership, while offering employers a powerful tool to improve recruitment, loyalty and retention.

We aim to improve the impact and reduce the cost of government sponsored down payment assistance programs to help residents overcome barriers to home ownership and help state and local governments attract key workers to their communities.

FOUNDER

GEORGE FATHEREE

George has 25 years of experience analyzing and solving complex problems – with a focus on social impact.

George began his career as a management consultant with Booz, Allen and McKinsey & Company, started an internet company in the early 2000s (where he was named one of Silicon Alley’s top minority entrepreneurs), served as the Chief Operating Officer of the California Charter School Association and has spent the past 15 years as a transactional attorney at Skadden, Arps and a partner at Munger, Tolles and Sidley Austin.

Passionate about social impact, George has provided pro bono representation to survivors of the Holocaust seeking reparations, public school children with disabilities seeking access to educations and numerous nonprofit organizations on real estate matters.  In 2019, he successfully represented a consortium of foundations acquiring the Ebony & Jet photography archives in a bankruptcy auction, and in 2022, George led the legal team responsible for the return of Bruce’s Beach – the first case of land restitution to an African American family in US history. Following this landmark victory, George launched ORO Impact to help Americans create wealth by removing barriers to home ownership.

George graduated from Harvard University and received his law degree from Loyola Law School. He serves on the boards of the National Portrait Gallery, Loyola Marymount University and Destination Crenshaw.

He bought his first home in 2001 (pictured) – with a down payment assistance loan from his employer.
